Doing old things in new ways.
Denon is a family project, built in New York by a father and his two children, with a simple belief: that the best eyewear should not require compromise.
Where it started
In 2020, Joseph Tallier and his children Julian and Sophie identified something that had been bothering them for years. The eyewear market had become dominated by a handful of large conglomerates, all quietly doing the same thing: protecting margin by cutting corners on materials, manufacturing, and the customer experience that independent optical practices deserved.
The frames looked the same. The service felt the same. And the independent ECPs who had spent decades building relationships with their patients were being handed product that did not reflect the care they put into their practice.
Denon Eyewear New York was the answer to that.

The brand we built
Denon is not a reinvention of eyewear. It is a refinement of it. We take proven silhouettes, the shapes that have worked for decades, and add the kind of detail that rewards a closer look. The perforated side shield on Lorenzo and Bogdan. The architectural proportions of the Maeve. The micro cat eye of the Una. And for those who want to feel almost nothing on their face, the hyper-lightweight titanium collection: Arnold, Victor and Karl. And for those drawn to color and pattern, the Venice, a frame defined by its acetate. Available in a vivid 95 Blue Turquoise and a refined two-tone crystal translucent and classic tortoise, it is proof that restraint and boldness are not opposites.
Every frame begins as a hand sketch, moves through precise technical drawings, and is prototyped and refined until the proportions are exactly right. We use premium sheet acetate, functioning rivet hinges, and CR-39 lenses for clarity and UV-400 protection.
We design in-house, in New York. The city's energy is in every Denon Eyewear collection whether we intend it or not.
Independent, by choice
Denon Eyewear is sold exclusively through independent optical practices across New York, Chicago, St. Louis, and beyond, and directly to customers online. We do not sell through chains. We do not sell through mass retail. That is a deliberate decision.
Independent ECPs serve their patients with a level of personal care that larger operations cannot replicate. Denon was built to match that standard. Our frames are prescription-ready across every style and backed by a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
We answer our own emails. Our reps answer their own phones. When something goes wrong, a person fixes it.

New York as an identity
We are based in New York not as a marketing decision but because this is where we are from. The city's architecture, its density, its insistence on quality under pressure, all of it shows up in the collection. The Bogdan frame takes its name and structural detail directly from New York's steel skyline. The Clayton carries the quiet confidence of a city that has seen every trend come and go.
New York has always known the difference between what is fashionable and what endures. So does Denon.
No outside money. No shortcuts.
Denon has never taken outside investment. No venture capital. No holding company. No silent partner protecting their return by cutting corners on ours. Every decision we have made, from the materials we use to the practices we partner with, has been made by the three of us with our own money on the line.
That is not a liability. It is the reason the frames are what they are. When you are not accountable to investors, you are accountable only to the product and the people wearing it. That is exactly where we want to be.
Not funded by outside money. Not backed by a holding company. Just a family, a vision, and a city that rewards both.
